Former World Champion Oliver McCall Heads "The Rise of the Heavyweights" Boxing Card at Hard Rock Live, June 15
Tickets go on sale Friday, May 7 at 1 p.m.
HOLLYWOOD, Fla.—The past and future of the heavyweight boxing world will enter the ring to do battle in "The Rise of the Heavyweights" on Tuesday, June 15 at 7:30 p.m. at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. Tickets go on sale Friday, May 7 at 1 p.m.
Former World Boxing Council heavyweight champion Oliver McCall (54-9, 37 KOs) has resumed his boxing career and is out to become the oldest heavyweight champion.
McCall, who turned 45 on April 21, is training at The Heavyweight Factory with former three-time world champion Michael Moorer for his main event 12-round title fight.
McCall is out to match George Foreman, a two-time world heavyweight champion and 1968 Olympic gold medalist. Foreman became the oldest man ever to become a heavyweight boxing champion of the world when at age 45 he knocked out Moorer at age 26 to reclaim the title he had held 20 years earlier.
To date, McCall's biggest accomplishment is a knockout victory over world champion Lennox Lewis at Wembley in 1994.
McCall's last victory was a unanimous 10-round decision over Lance Whittaker in Las Vegas to retain the IBA Continental heavyweight title in October. All three judges had McCall winning, 95-94. It was his third consecutive win in 2009 since his last loss to Juan Carlos Gomez in October 2007.
McCall is both a boxer and trainer at The Heavyweight Factory where he works with former University of Miami football player James Bryant, who is also on the June 15 card.
Bryant is a product of the Heavyweight Factory, a program that turns former football and basketball players into heavyweight boxers. Bryant is undefeated (2-0) with two knockouts in his young career.
Former Douglas High and Montana State football player Clive Lowe will make his pro debut on the card for The Heavyweight Factory. Ten action-packed fights are scheduled.
Sponsor table seating for ten and six are available at $5,500 and $2,750 respectively.
Tickets cost $105, $55 & $30. All seats are reserved and available at the Hard Rock Live Box Office, open Tuesday – Saturday from noon to 7 p.m. and on Sunday & Monday – only open on event days at noon.
